My name is Emma Deaner. I'm the associate events manager at Glensheen Mansion. Well, Glensheen Mansion is a beautiful, historic estate that is located on the shores of Lake Superior here in Duluth. And it was built by the Congdon family and they have a long, withstanding history within the Duluth community. They spearheaded the launch of the North Shore drive, and a lot of other wonderful, philanthropic things for our community. We feature a wide variety of events within four different categories. You could host your wedding there but you could also host a corporate retreat there. The University of Minnesota hosts over 45 events there a year. So there's different departments within the University that also utilize it. It's a wonderful asset that the University has. And then we also host our own events. Glensheen will host a weekly event and every month it's a different theme. This month were featuring a 'Chef in the Garden' series, where we bring in a UMD sous chef and he cooks up a meal from locally sourced ingredients and some that are from our own gardens. I am in constant communication with people, whether it's my coworkers or clients on the phone or blasting off inspirational emails throughout the day, processing a lot of paper work, because it takes a lot to actualize an event, not only with the ideation of it and the creativity that lives behind an event, but also all of the details leading up to that. So there's a lot of paper work and things that you need to get in place before you can actually bring everything to fruition. When an event comes in, you might be at the office maybe half of the day and then once the event takes over, then you're making sure this is set up, you're talking with the caterer, you're bringing in the musicians, you're also getting the crew together. You can be in many places all at once. So it's really exciting.
