Overview:

ULimo is seeking innovative and hands-on Hardware Engineering Interns to join BookaBooth, one of our sister startup projects. BookaBooth is developing a new type of smart focus booth designed for cafés, restaurants, libraries, and other public spaces, giving users private workspaces that can be reserved and unlocked through a mobile application.

Please note: Physical engineering work takes place at our headquarters in Central New Jersey, near Princeton.

As a Hardware Engineering Intern, you will help design, prototype, test, and improve the physical components of our smart focus booths, including integrating electronic locking systems and other hardware technologies. Students with software development experience may also have opportunities to contribute to the companion mobile application that powers the booth access system.

This internship offers a rare opportunity to help invent, prototype, and build a real physical product from the ground up within a startup environment.

Responsibilities:

-Assist with the design, prototyping, and development of BookaBooth smart focus booths.

-Support the installation, testing, and integration of smart locking systems and other hardware components.

-Collaborate with engineering and leadership teams to improve product functionality and user experience.

-Help test prototypes and recommend design improvements.

-Assist with product assembly, documentation, and quality testing.

-Research materials, components, and emerging hardware technologies.

-Collaborate with software developers to ensure seamless integration between the hardware and the companion mobile application.

-Participate in brainstorming sessions focused on product innovation and future hardware features.

Qualifications:

-Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Mechatronics, Product Design, or a related engineering field.

-Strong interest in hardware design, prototyping, product development, and innovation.

-Experience with CAD software, electronics, embedded systems, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, 3D printing, or similar technologies is a plus.

-Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

-Comfortable working in a collaborative startup environment.

-Must be able to travel to or work from our Central New Jersey headquarters for physical engineering projects.

Perks:

-Gain hands-on experience building a real hardware product from concept to prototype.

-Work directly with startup founders and engineering leadership.

-Contribute to the development of innovative smart hardware and connected technology.

-Learn about hardware-software integration and product development.

-Build a portfolio of engineering projects with real-world impact.

-Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, software development, and product design.

-Opportunity to help shape a new product entering the market.
