We are hiring for Kitchen positions at our summer camp, Camp Kirby! Working at Camp Kirby is a very challenging, yet incredibly rewarding experience. For most, the rewards of spending the summer outside and working with youth are well worth it.

Open Positions include: Assistant Cook

Responsible for assisting the cook with food preparation, kitchen maintenance, and other duties as assigned. MUST have a current Food Handler’s Permit. Must be at least 18 years old.

Minimum Qualifications and Essential Functions:

  • Current documented CPR and first aid training.
  • Ability to teach and work with children of all ages both indoors and outdoors.
  • Ability to relate to one’s peer group and accept guidance and supervision.
  • Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control.
  • Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.
  • Ability to communicate and work with groups and provide necessary instruction to campers and/or staff.
  • Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid.
  • Cognitive and communicative abilities to plan and conduct the activity to achieve camper development objectives.
  • Ability to observe camper behavior and assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques.
  • Any needed certifications for specific job.
  • Eighteen years of age or CIT graduate, and at least two years older than campers you are supervising.
